DJ Nature – Ruff Draft 09 – 12″

Cottam’s Ruff Draft label makes a logical move and turns to a long-serving champion of gritty, soul-powered house jams from the tough side. DJ Nature may have made his name many moons ago, but he proves to be as relevant as ever on this killer two-track release.

“Alfred” is a tightly wound box jam that manages to maintain tension throughout without needing to pander to the release part of the process, sounding all the more exciting for it. “Blood On Your Hands” meanwhile finds Nature heading into the scuffed, soul-sampling territory he’s most at home in, and the ensuing rumble of off-key funk is impossible to refute.
