Diana Policarpo is a visual artist, composer and activist based in London and Lisbon.
Defying the conventional monolithic classifications of art and music, Diana Policarpo’s transdisciplinary works overlap the formal boundaries between different strategies and media such as performance, installation, drawing, sound manipulation and improvisation.
After a artistic residency in New York, Policarpo releases a new cassette “Beating Back Darkness (Resonant Objects)” through Porto based label Ordinár!a.
“Beating Back Darkness (Resonant Objects)” are 5 electroacustic compositions (multi-channel) using field recordings, noise and samples for 5 sculptures, inspired by urban spaces and imaginary landscapes. It was exhibited at Kunsthalle Baden-Baden for her solo show in 2014.
In addition to its visual component, the sculptures were activated by sound and sensors, guiding the viewer through the space, along with a recording of a disembodied voice.
