Jorge Lima Barreto was rehearsing intensely for a series of concerts in a hard pianistic effort at the time he had a borrowed Korg workstation synthesizer in the studio. “Neo Neon” is a work divided in 4 selected tunes and multiple elements for synthesizer, sonic inventions on humility and pride in search of a new simplicity. It represents a minimalist concept put on practice, to leave sounds on their own – an appeal to the automatism and unconsciousness. With “Neo Neon” the composer/improviser establishes his hypnotic idiolect, a horizontal rhizome, remembering single melodic lines, discreet polirythms and poetic arpeggios in a quasi-minimal ambience.
