William Onyeabor – What!? – CD

Moog and Luaka Bop joined forces to release the William Onyeabor remix series featuring covers and remixes by artists such as Dam-Funk, John Talabot, and James Holden, to name a few. The project began to take shape last spring when Luaka Bop caught wind of rumors that Onyeabor was a Moog retailer in Nigeria. Intrigued by this information, they reached out to their friends at Moog headquarters in Asheville, NC, who began conducting in depth research about Onyeabor, his music, and his gear. Information on Onyeabor has always been scarce, but it was clear from Moog’s findings that this “fantastic man” was a tragically under-cited electronic music pioneer, whose importance to the history of the genre should be universally recognized.
