Sensible Soccers – 2011-2013 – LP

Here is the fifteenth issue! This one took nearly a decade to complete… But most of the time it is just like that: good things take time.

Describing Sensible Soccers’ work, in a brief explanatory note, is a hard and unfair task, as the band’s career requires, in my sound judgement, an extensive opinion article. However, giving a favorable opinion about the work of friends or acquaintances can also sound like a somewhat forced panegyric… And in this case, the boys don’t even need my praise, because they’ve known, for a very long time, that the particular mix of Balearica, Leftfield electronics, and Independent Rock they produce brushes close to perfection. More than words, let the sounds roar!

The LP, “2011-2013”, as the title indicates, does not bring news, but rather recovers, revives and regroups the first (firm) steps of Sensible Soccers towards consistency and creative security. In this anthology of primordial organisms, tracks such as the mythical and funny Sofrendo Por Você, the sweet and melancholic, Zaire 1974, and, my personal favourite, the minimal and tribalistic, Missé Missé, are superb. The remaining pieces also deserved a highlight, however, leaving some space for the listener is not a bad idea, at all.
