Plancton Music

Re-release, by Plancton Music, of the portuguese experimental/computer music record, “Música De Baixa Fidelidade“, originally released in 1988 on the Ama Romanta label. Featuring recordings made in The Hague Royal Conservatory in 1988, in collaboration with the American composer Rodney Waschka II, and by António alone in Cascais, this re-release features 2 previously unreleased tracks and an alternative version, all of which were digitally restored and re-mastered. Dense unheard sonority sugesting harsh, human-free, soundscapes and pre-apocallyptical speech by performer Rodney Waschka II.

This record has been composed, recorded and produced by António Ferreira in his own studio, Cascais 02/1988, except “More Adult Music” and “This is music, as it was expected”, composed and recorded at the Sonology Institute, The Hague Royal Conservatory during winter/spring of 1987. Sound generation and composition of the pieces produced at Sonology Institute was made using a PDP-11/34 mini computer controlling a DMX-1000 16-bit DSP engine and using analogue techniques. Other pieces were made using the LISP and Forth computer programming languages in an ATARI computer controlling a FM YAMAHA FB-01 synthesizer and an Ensoniq Mirage sampler.
